Peonies in our back yard have bloomed and I always love painting these each spring. It is usually around Mother's Day that they are in full bloom, but this year they have blossomed early here in Missouri. This a single flower on a small canvas painted with a palette knife capturing more of a gestural rendering than a realistic portrayal. Painting could be hung as it is or further enhanced by framing it. Next up I will post the vase and bouquet of these Peonies.
