Lavender Wood

This painting features textured trees on a textured background.  Did I mention there was a lot of texture?

The "bushes" are made from shotgun paper target remnants.  What???
I was at a shooting range with my husband and son-in-law.  They were shooting at paper targets with their shotguns.  All over the ground were these lovely paper target pieces shot full of holes.  YOU CAN'T BUY PAPER LIKE THAT!

They thought I was nuts to be picking that stuff up.  Click on the painting to enlarge it to get a good look at the paper.

As you've probably noticed, I've been into the floral thing lately.  I guess it's just the season for it! This painting is done on 14x11 textured stretched canvas.  Acrylics, texture mediums and metallics applied with both brush and palette knife.  Tried to loosen up on this one and paint a little more abstractly.  I think I'm going to enter this in an upcoming exhibit next month.Purchase Info Here, or  visit my BLOG:  Donna Holdsworth Contemporary Art.   Thank you!

The word rune has many meanings. Runes can be symbols of language and also stones used in meditation and prognostication. A rune is also a mystery. This series features the organic shapes, outlines and marks made by imbedding a variety stones, rocks and gravel in acrylic media and then removing them. I enjoy the inherent unpredictability of the series.
