Golden Dragonfly

This contemporary abstract is finally finished. I had started it about six months ago and it was one of those paintings that I did not feel like it was complete. I kept adding lines, shapes and color. The wings of the dragonfly disappeared into hard edges and angles. This painting is for a couple in Minnesota who just built a new home, and they have a pond in the backyard. I worked with them on the colors and details of the painting. I hope that they smile and enjoy it when they see the painting in the den above the fireplace. I have seen some interior shots of the home, and it is lovely....this painting is getting ready to travel to it's new home. Twisted
24" x 20" Oil on Linen Gallery Wrap
Palette Knife Painting
Image looking up in the sky with the wind whipping around, trees blowing and a storm coming in. That is what I imagined when I painted this contemporary abstract. I blended the colors in the background, using wide brushes. The leaves and trees were laid in with thick layers so that there is texture on the linen.
