Abstract painting done on 20x16 textured stretched canvas.  This painting was not planned.  After two underpaintings I pulled out my palette knife & started my sculpting technique.  This is when the two lovers appeared, so I went with it and focused the painting around them.  Lots of hot reds and oranges.  Purchase Info Here!, or visit my BLOG:  Donna Holdsworth Contemporary Art.  Thank you!

This painting is done on 14x11 textured stretched canvas.  It morphed so many times I can't even begin to explain it.  After many layers of acrylics, glazes, gels and collage it ended up here.  Reminded me of a constellation, so I named it Orion.   I named the moths after Orions two brightest stars:  Rigal and Betelgeuse (don't say that 3 times)!!:)  Sides painted black.  Decided to exhibit this one in an upcoming show. Purchase Info Here!, or visit my BLOG:  Donna Holdsworth Contemporary Art.  Thank you!

This painting is done on 14x11 textured stretched canvas.  Multiple acrylic glazes (I stopped counting after 7!) and washes add depth.  Texture compound and gel used too.  For the robins egg I used egg shell, gel and gloss medium.  I tried using string gel for the nest, but that was a fiasco so I used gel instead. Sides painted rich expresso for an unframed presentation.  UV satin finish, except for the focal area where I used gloss.  Purchase Info Here, or visit my BLOG:  Donna Holdsworth Contemporary Art.  Thank you!

This painting is done on 14x11 stretched canvas.  Alternate layers of texture, acrylic and collage. Started out cooler tones but once again the painting had a mind of its own! Can be hung vertically(the way I painted it) or horizontally (the way my husband hung it!) Sides painted black so can be left unframed if desired.  Purchase Info Here! or visit my BLOG:  Donna Holdsworth Contemporary Art.  Thank you!

This painting was inspired from a small abstract that I created with my oil paints. Whenever I finish one of my oil paintings, I use the remaining paint to create a small abstract. I then choose my favorites of these to use as inspiration for my larger abstract paintings. It is such a great journey from leftover paints to a final creation. I never quite know where I will end. I really love the colors in this one.
